The hand is one of the earliest images of humankind, a symbol that marks our first appearance in the world and persists as an enduring definition of identity. Hands — along with other anatomical motifs — occurred frequently in the jewelry of the Greeks and Romans. Designer Anthony Lent’s hand motifs were prompted by these influences from the past as well as Tony’s fascination with miniature worlds. In this uniquely beautiful pendant, a carved yellow gold hand, accented with white gold, holds a generous black Tahitian pearl. A tiny white diamond is set into the finger on the back. The pendant hangs from a substantial yellow gold cable chain.
